The award-winning band AJ Lee & Blue Summit will perform during the Summer Concerts at the Park series August 14.

Brookings’ free “Summer Concerts in the Park” series at Azalea Park continues at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, with AJ Lee and Blue Summit, a California band that specializes in bluegrass, americana, country, and folk music.

AJ Lee & Blue Summit are known for their soaring harmonies, top-notch picking and strumming as well as a healthy respect and reverence for the classic country, bluegrass and folk music. While the band tips a hat to the American masters of the past, their sound is modern and thoroughly of today. Drawing from influences such as country, soul, swing, rock and jam music, the band uses the lens of bluegrass as a vessel through which to express and explore the thread that binds and unifies all great music. Learn more about the band at ww.bluesummitmusic.com.

The free music series — supported by presenting sponsors Rogue Credit Union, Travel Curry Coast and Elk Valley Casino — attracts up to 1,200 music fans per concert. The sound system is provided by sound engineer and local resident Ed Ajimine.

The Rotary Club of Brookings-Harbor operates the Snack Shack for all the events, providing food such as hot dogs, pizza and burgers, and sodas and water. In case of bad weather, the concerts will move indoors to the Gibney Center at Brookings-Harbor High School or Azalea Middle School cafeteria, 505 Pacific Ave.

The Pacific Coast Trolley will provide free rides from the lower parking field on North Bank Chetco River Road to the park’s bandshell. The pickup times for the Sunday concerts are 12-1 p.m. and 3-4 p.m.

• Aug. 14, Sunday, 1 p.m.: A.J. Lee and Blue Summit, Americana and Indie bluegrass.

• Aug. 21, Sunday, 1 p.m.: Gator Nation, Cajun and zydeco music.

• Sept. 4, Sunday, 1 p.m.: McKayla Marie Band, country.

Information and videos about the bands can be found at the American Music Festival’s Facebook page at facebook.com/AmericanMusicFestivalBrookingsOregon

Additional community sponsors include Wild Rivers Motorlodge, Elk Valley Rancheria, Hearing Health Care, Nature’s Coastal Holiday, Peggy O’Connor of MORE Realty, Brookings Signs and Graphics, Oregon Community Foundation and Three Rivers Foundation.
